Transfer Hydrogenation of Aldehydes With 2-Propanol and Raney~R Nickel

摘要

Raney nickel in refluxing 2-propanol containing a trace of HCl is an effective catalytic system for the reduction of aldehydes to primary alcohols.Reduction by heterogeneous catalytic transfer hydrogenation(CTH)employing a hydrogen donor is an attractive alternative to using gaseous hydrogen as the reductant.
