BackgroundDevice replacements bear many potential risks for patients. Electrocautery should be used cautiously because of heating of the cautery tip which may lead to insulation melting. The PEAK PlasmaBlade (Medtronic Inc., Minneapolis, MN, USA) uses a novel technology to cut tissue. The objective of this study was to evaluate if this instrument is less destructive and can decrease complications and shorten procedure times.
