Indication: Tofacitinib is indicated for the treatment of moderately to severely active rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in adults who have had an inadequate response to, or who are intolerant of, methotrexate. Drug Class: Tofacitinib is an oral selective Janus kinase 0AK) inhibitor. It can be taken alone or in combination with methotrexate or other nonbiologic disease-modifying antirheu-matic drugs (DMARDs), but it should not be used with biologic drugs, azathioprine (Azasan, Salix), or cyclosporine. Uniqueness of Drug: Tofacitinib interrupts the signaling of several cytokines involved in the immune response.
