Highway Bridges

摘要

The Great East Japan Earthquake caused many incidences of great damage in which highway bridges installed in coastal areas or across rivers were washed away by the associated tsunami (Photo 1). But, then again, in areas where the tsunami height was confirmed to have exceeded that of a bridge's superstructure, many of these bridges were not washed away.
