During hot rolling of snip, its surface is exposed to air which leads to its oxidation. Strueture and growth Kinetics of scales so formed depends on composition of Steel, its physical slate and atmosphere. Scales are composed of Wustite (FeO), Magnetite (Fe_3O_4) and Hematile (Fe_2O_3) as shown in figure 1.
