Tenova Goodfellow's EFSOP? system was commissioned with the objectives to improve EAF performance and to increase safety by detecting and alarming in real time for abnormal water events. The EAF off-gas measurements from the EFSOP? system were used to control the fume system 4th-hole damper, control of one Omni-Jet Burn Injector and develop improved practices to generate savings in yield, standardize/automate burner operation and reduce POT. The realtime off-gas measurements also provided insight into the furnace operation to allow operators to understand and operate the furnace sonic lance (position and oxygen flow rate).
