GDP and the Economy Second Estimates for the Third Quarter of 2012

REAL GROSS domestic product (GDP) increased at an annual rate of 2.7 percent in the third quarter of 2012, according to the second estimates of the national income and product accounts (NIPAs) (chart 1 and table 1). In the second quarter, real GDP increased 1.3 percent. The second estimate of real GDP growth was revised up 0.7 percentage point from the advance estimate, reflecting upward revisions to inventory investment and to exports that were partly offset by downward revisions to consumer spending and to nonresidential fixed investment.
