10th Korea-China-Japan Symposium on Structural Steel Construction, Seoul

The International Committee of the Japanese Society of Steel Construction (JSSC) promotes international operations by fully utilizing the JSSC's interdisciplinary organization and then returns the fruits of these operations to its members. Among the committee's major international efforts is cooperation extended to the ECCS (The European Convention for Constructional Steelwork), the IABSE (International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering), and the PSSC (Pacific Structural Steel Conference), as well as to ISO/TC167. The committee's more recent operations involve joint programs with the Japan Iron and Steel Federation, such as holding the Southeast Asia Steel Construction Seminar, publication of Steel Construction Today and Tomorrow, and a steel-related program of cooperation based on the Japan-Thailand Economic Partnership Agreement. Originating with a technical exchange meeting held between Japan and China in 1980, the Korea-China-Japan Symposium on Structural Steel Construction is another of the committee's operations. Following the 1st Korea-China-Japan Symposium that was held in 1996 marking the entry of Korea, the symposium, as a basic rule, has been held annually with each ofthe three nations serving as host on a rotating basis.
