GDP and the Economy: Advance Estimates for the Second Quarter of 2013

Real gross domestic product (GDP) increased 1.7 percent at an annual rate in the second quarter of 2013, according to the advance estimates of the national income and product accounts (NIPAs) (chart 1 and see table 1). In the first quarter of 2013, real GDP increased 1.1 percent (revised). The NIPA estimates for 1929 through the first quarter of 2013 have been revised as part of the comprehensive NIPA revision. An article describing the revised statistics will be published in the September 2013 SURVEY OF CURRENT BUSINESS.
