The study of function spaces with variable exponents was extremely developed by the celebrated work of Diening [10] in the early 2000s. A search for "variable exponent" in Mathematical Reviews yields 466 articles, and 451 articles appear after 2000 (for August 3, 2012), many of which cite the paper by Ru?i?ka [66].
