Small Island Developing States and the Millennium Development Goals: Building the capacity

This publication is a result of the seminar on 'Small Island Developing States and the Millennium Development Goals' held on 14 to 15 April during the FIG International Congress in Sydney, Australia 11 to 16 April 2010. It includes a report of the seminar and an Agenda for Action as the main outcome of the seminar. The seminar was organised to address the challenges that the Small Island Developing States (SIDS) are facing in achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and with a special focus on the Pacific region. In keeping with the Congress theme 'Facing the Challenges - Building the Capacity', the workshop articulated the input of land professionals in the Pacific region and defined how mechanisms and capacity requirements can be met and can contribute to achieving the MDGs.
