Cadastral survey datasets Getting the basics right

Land Information New Zealand's (LINZ) strategic priorities have grown and changed a lot over the past three years. The processing of cadastral survey datasets (CSDs) plays a big part in LINZ's objectives. This is particularly reflected in the LINZ Statement of Intent 2010/2013 available online at www.linz.govt.nz with aims of - 1. Building and maintaining certainty of property rights; 2. Providing authoritative land information. The fact that a significant percentage of CSDs do not achieve first time compliance is of concern to both surveyors and to LINZ. This article aims to help surveyors understand more about the roles of various staff involved in the processing of CSDs.
