Panama's Summit Zoo Gets Help from Association of Zoological Horticulture

Mike Bostwick, Associate Horticulture Director at the San Diego Zoo, is collaborating with BOTA Director, Gib Cooper, and Iris Rojas, Director of Summit Zoo Botanical Garden in Panama, to assist in developing a plan for renovating the botanical garden's Bamboo Walk. Summit Municipal Park was created in 1923 as an experimental tropical garden administered by the Panama Canal Company. Tropical species were brought in from all over the world in order to discover what benefits they could bring to mankind. Missouri Botanical Gardens had a station at this park for almost 30 years, and David Fairchild, who would later go on to create Fairchild Tropical Botanical Gardens, was one of Summit's creators.
