Herpes Simplex Virus Keratitis: Epidemiological Observations

We read with great interest the article "Herpes Simplex Epithelial and Stromal Keratitis: An Epide-miologic Update" by Farooq and Shukla.We feel that when referring to Herpes simplex virus (HSV) epidemiology it is necessary to mention that humans are the only reservoir. With regard to pathophysiology authors mentioned that virus enters at the mucous membranes of the host, but forgot to mention that it also enters abraded skin. In Table 2 of the published article,4 the authors mention the diverse possibilities of recurrent ocular HSV via exposure to the same or different viral strain.
