Acid plant commissioned at uranium mine

Atomredmetzoloto (ARMZ), the uranium mining arm of state nuclear corporation Rosatom, has officially commissioned a new sulphuric acid plant at its JSC Khiagda subsidiary in the Bauntovskiy region of Buryatia, in Russia's eastern Irkutsk region. ARMZ has an estimated 350,000 tonnes of uranium in the local deposits, of which 250,000 tonnes are amenable to in situ leaching.
