Ecopetrol's Cartagena refinery to restart next year

Colombia's state-run oil company Ecopet-rol will restart its refinery in Cartagena in the first half of 2015 after expansion works at the site have been completed, doubling capacity from 80,000 bbl/d to 165,000 bbl/d, and enabling the refinery to process heavier domestic crudes, reducing dependence on imports, according to the company. Cartagena's crude distillation unit was shut down last month, while the plant's cracking unit was taken off line last year. The expansion includes 260 t/d of sulphur recovery capacity.
