I read with great interest the paper by Kdninger et al entitled "Duodenum-preserving pancreatic head resection-A randomized controlled trial comparing the original Beger procedure with the Berne modification," which appeared in Surgery. The authors are to be congratulated on finding that the Berne modification (organ-preserving method) of duodenum-preserving pancreatic head resection (DPPHR) has more effective early and late outcomes than those of Beger's DPPHR.
