Founded in 2008 by Roel Vaessen, Paulien Berendsen and Eric Sloot, the Dutch firm has its roots deeply tied to the art and design sector. In fact, it was the trio's involvement with the art community that prompted the formation of ixxi as a viable business entity, as Roel explains: "We were asked to design an exhibition in the province of Noord-Brabant. It acted as a showcase for our projects. We thought it would be nice to design an exhibition consisting of 14,000 postcards, hanging from a curtain rail.
