Copper(II) Assisted Determination of Thiosulphate with Oxidants

摘要

The titrimetric determination of thiosulphate with conventional oxidants in the presence of copper(II) in aqueous acid medium is described. End-point location can be either potentiometric or visual using tris-(4, 7-dihydroxy-1, 10-phenanthroline)-iron(III) complex as an indicator. Studies herein reported are based on the marked effect of copper(II) in considerably retarding the decomposition of thiosulphate in acid medium.
