Tetrakis(methyl-2-mercaptonicotinato-N,S,N',S',N",S"N"',S"') molybdenum(IV),has been obtained by the reaction of [MoCl_2(acac)_2] (or MoCl_4centre dot2CH_3CN) and 2-mercaptonicotinic acid in methanol.Esterification of 2-mercaptonicotinic acid resulted from the catalytic action of molybdenum.The complex molecule contains molybdenum dodecahedraly coordinated byfour sulfur and four nitrogen atoms.
