Dealing with Wall Street woes

IT was Friday, Oct. 3, when I wrote the first draft of this column. As I was writing, news commentators on television were busy reporting that the U.S. House of Representatives had just voted to fund a 700 billion dollar Wall Street bailout. I was pulling very much for this. My desperate hope was that it had not come too late to avoid having a really big problem on our hands.
