Late one night during harvest 2014, Michael Moore left a field with a full load of grain. As he made his way back to his Danville, Indiana, farm, Moore was passed on a county road by a driver eager to make it to her destination. As she passed on the left-hand side of the road, her tire hit the shoulder, pulling her toward the ditch. She overcorrected, which then brought her right in front of Moore's semitrailer.That moment could have been tragic. If the brakes on Moore's semi hadn't functioned properly, his truck may have crashed into the car. However, Moore's meticulous maintenance inspections paid off and he was able to stop the semi safely.The car ended up crashing into a pile of trees off the right side of the road. "The driver spent six months recovering from the accident," says Moore. "It could have been a lot worse if I hadn't been able to stop."
