GOT ALGAE

There may be a second revolution in the works at corn etha-nol plants, think some folks at the Green Plains Renewable Energy plant in southwest Iowa.They're taking a wasted by-product of ethanol production - CO, gas - and pumping it into a greenhouse environ-ment to grow algae. Algae are the simplest form of nature's plants, and they grow very fast. (See facts below.) When harvested, algae can be turned into a variety of products - from fuels to food for animals and people.At Green Plains, they are six years into an algae-growing project in a joint venture with a company called BioProcess Algae.
