COTTON will hopefully evolve into two different markets as 2007 progresses. Big supplies and lagging use of U.S. cotton dampen old-crop price potential. Strong competition from grains for acreage and continuing growth in world cotton consumption should tighten fundamentals for the 2007 harvest.
