In 2008, the Villwock family faced a dilemma. They'd lost their 100-plus-year-old farmstead near Edwardsport, Indiana, to the construction of a new power plant and were being forced to move lock, stock and shop. "Prior to that, we were operating out of a great 64 X 80-foot shop, which we'd still be in today if we hadn't lost the farmstead," says Don Villwock. "We appreciated that shop. But the situation did give us an opportunity to start anew." So Villwock and farm manager Jason Misiniec set about putting together a wish list of ideas they wanted in a new shop based on their experience in their old shop, farm magazine articles, and visits to other farm shops. Thus armed, they erected a 104-foot-long by 80-foot-wide structure with 20-foot sidewalls.In addition, they attached a 64-foot-wide by 32-foot-deep structure to the west end ofthat structure to house an office.
