摘要

Refractory metal ceramic composites are formed by a novel synthesis route combining the advantages of powder metallurgical (PM) and pressure casting processing. In particular, porous precursors are formed by PM techniques and subsequently infiltrated by molten aluminum using the well established pressure casting technique. Finally, the infiltrated samples are heat treated in inert atmospheres to perform (i) removal of excess aluminum, (ii) reaction of the ingredients to the product phases, and (iii) formation of the desired microstracture. By this process, Fe-/Ni-/Co-alloys reinforced by alumina are fabricated offering improved mechanical properties.
