In the context of the papers the discussant generated questions, debate on general and particular issues of censuses implementation in individual countries. In the case of Denmark register based census is an extraordinarily impressive undertaking having a considerable public utility given the fact that traditional censuses constitute an extremely demanding process as regards both organizational and cost aspects. Denmark makes a good example of a country where register based censuses have been carried out for many years (starting in 1981). It is not possible to introduce in each country a register based census, but the approach is very much worth to be given deeper thought as an eventual solution that furthermore should be prepared in advance. Drawn from the Danish experience, the following questions arise: What conditions should be fulfilled (legal, organizational, methodological etc.) and what kind of tasks should be performed with a view to create the conditions to implement a register based census? How much time is needed to implement this work? What are the conditions and the necessary preparatory steps?
