The non-linear relation between absorption coefficients and continuous scattered intensity is fitted by a quadratic equation for a wide range of matrix absorption. Both theoretical and experimental results support this prediction. In consequence, a more suitable absorption correction method compared with the traditional scattered internal technique is recommended for matrix absorption correction in X-ray fluorescence spectrometry.
