Advanced Colour Stain Spray System: VSM Nieuwkoop Supplied to Villeroy & Boch a spraying unit for porcelain

The recent purchase of a fully automated spray system manufactured by the Dutch company VSM Nieuwkoop has contributed a great deal towards the optimization of Villeroy & Boch's production processes. After meeting at the Ceramitec in 2003 the two companies have set out to design, build and implement the new unit in close cooperation. At the Merzig premises Villeroy & Boch specializes in manufacturing decorated tableware, like the 'Wonderful World' and 'Mira' series (Fig. 2a,b). VSM Nieuwkoop designed a complete spray unit (Fig.1), consisting of a 6-axis robot (Coat-A-Flex type), a turntable with revolving spindles with vacuum, a pre-heater, a drying unit and a spindle cleaner (Fig.3). Regardless of the products' shape or dimension, from the smallest cup tot the largest soup-tureen and even products with handles or double curved shapes, a very high standard of glazing is achieved.
