摘要

Channels were formed during pressing of unfired powder compacts of alumina and alumina/zirconia. The powder compacts were then sintered by microwave heating, yielding specimens with submillimeter diameter channels that were approximately semi-elliptical in cross section. The channels, that were thus formed without machining, were relatively smooth and uniform in cross sectional dimension. Joining of the specimens also was performed by microwave heating.
