Surround~R boosts quality in walnuts - study

An independent research study shows that treating walnut trees with Surround~R WP crop protectant from Engelhard can significantly improve kernel quality. Surround, formulated with a specially modified natural mineral known as kaolin, is designed to protect against sunburn and plant heat stress, as well as certain insects . Seasonal treatments of the whiteshriveled kernel of the lowest quality Nuts were then grouped into three categories: premium (zero and one ratings); average (two and three); and culls (four and five).
