摘要

Developments in China and Brazil, as well as the impact of Avian Influenza, will be the principal factors influencing global soybean demand, says veteran commodities trader Darcy Oliphant. "As China becomes more prosperous, people are eating more meat," explains the merchandising manager for Hyland Seeds/Thompson Ltd. "That means a greater demand for soybean meal to feed China's chicken and hog populations. But if the bird flu threat grows, the Chinese may turn more to hog production and hogs require more soybean meal to feed them than chickens do."
