摘要

Experiments on the reduction of manganese and silicon from no-iron and low-iron (4 percent FeO) slag into hot metal prove that marked impurity reduction is only possible from iron-free slag; with liquid-phase reduction of iron oxide, the content of manganese and especially silicon in the hot metal is very low. The results are fully consistent with thermodynamic calculations. The possibility of reducing impurities from slag by exchange reactions with iron has been demonstrated.
