In documentation and in the literature, blast-furn ace operation is generally evaluated in terms of batch motion; the configuration and thickness of the cohe-sion zone and its motion over the furnace height; the flow of liquid products through the coke charge in the lower part of the furnace; the motion of the coke above the tuyeres; the motion of smelting products within the hearth during discharge; fuel combustion close to the tuyeres; the distribution of the gas; and its motion from the air tuyeres to the charge hole. The main char-acteristics of the blast furnace are the speed and char-acter of batch descent [1].
