The basic gas-purification system for the arc smelting furnace (ASF) at Moldavskii Metallurgicheskii Zavod (MMZ) Joint Stock Company is characterized by a combined exhaust system for the technological and aspirational components of the gas flow, with two three-pole EGA electro filters (EF) in parallel. This system has operated for 20 years, practically without change in the filter components. The use of a gas-conditioning system in the exhaust channel [1,2] permits compliance with current environmental standards and is a promising option. The introduction of high-productivity smelting technology at MMZ called for improvement in the existing system components and the use of new methods to improve EF performance and meet relevant public-health standards. Recent work to improve gas exhaust and conditioning in specific production conditions is of practical interest.
