The first units for slag granulation at blast furnaces were built according to designs by the Gipromez Joint Stock Company in 1975 at blast furnace 9 (capacity 5000 m~3) in the Krivorozhstal Works. Subsequently, 22 such units have been introduced at 37 independent technological lines for blast furnaces of capacity from 5580 to 1700 m~3 at metallurgical works in Russia, India, and China. These units have a long working life, are explosion-proof, reliable, and simple in design, and permit the processing of all the slag from the furnace without additional technological support. At the same time, the environment around the blast furnaces benefits thanks to localization of the vapor - gas emissions in slag granulation using recycled water with pH = 9.5-10.5.
