In recent years, losses due to corrosional failure of equipment in the oil and gas industry, especially pipelines, has sharply increased, mainly on account of deterioration in tube quality and the transportation of more aggressive fluids. Thus, it is extremely important to develop new tubes of improved corrosion resistance and operational reliability. We know that pump and compressor tubes (PCT) are subject to intense corrosive and erosional wear. Analysis of existing data shows that the most common causes of PCT emergencies are corrosion, thread wear, and fatigue failure. Many years of operational experience with uncoated PCT have shown that their mean working life is three years. According to industry data, PCT emergencies currently account for 80 percent of all problems with borehole equipment at some sites within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) [1].
