The accumulated experience of operating a Romelt plant on an industrial scale made it possible to develop industrial technologies for processing various materials containing iron. The personnel has mastered methods of carrying out the heat, which is very different from a blast-furnace heat. The optimum design solutions for industrial Romelt plants have been developed. It is advisable to build the first industrial vessels with a hearth area of 25 m~2 and annual output in the range of 350,000 tons of pig iron. Later, after these plants have been mastered, vessels with hearth area of 40 and 50 m~2 and annual output of 600,000 tons or more can be built. In the future, as Romelt plants are mastered, the plant's unit capacity can be increased, since there are no design restrictions in this regard.
