From empirical calculation of nitrogen-dioxide concentration in the smoke gases on fuel combustion in burners with different methods of forming the fuel-air mixtures, it follows that the nitrogen-dioxide concentration is lowest for burners with open flames and external mixing in the case of low-caloric fuel. Heating the air increases the concentration of nitrogen oxides in the combustion products. The dependence of the concentration of nitrogen oxides in the exhaust on the air excess is extremal. The critical value of the air excess, corresponding to maximum nitrogen-oxide concentration, is 1.16-1.17.
