Michigan Seed Potato Association: Anniversary tributes paid to seed potato manager

Jeff Axford of Gaylord, Mich., has completed his 15th year of service to the Michigan seed potato industry. "Seed certification is complicated, and Jeff understands all parts of the process," said Dennis lott, a Kalkaska seed grower and president of the Michigan Seed Potato Association (MSPA). "He's a very able administrator." Axford manages the MSPA, designated as Michigan's official seed inspection and certification agency for potatoes by the Michigan Department of Agriculture under the authority of Public Act 221 of 1959. Inspection and certification are critical processes in enabling commercial potato growers to plant disease-free seed.
