摘要

Colorado nematode studies designed to get a better understanding of nematode population dynamics within a growing season might shed some light on long-term nematode management as well. With help from Oregon State nematologists, Richard Zink, Extensionpotato specialist at Colorado State University's San Luis Valley Research Center, nematode research began in 2001. "Root-knot nematode research had been done in other potato-growing areas and on the same species that we have in the San Luis Valley," Zink said. "But all of that work was done for processing or fresh-market potatoes. Work had not been done in seed potatoes, which have a zero tolerance for nematodes. We also sell some of our fresh potatoes to Mexico. Those require zero tolerance as well."
