Chlorpropham (CIPC) is a highly effective potato sprout inhibitor and the most commonly used sprout inhibitor currently registered in the United States. CIPC interferes with cell division, therefore inhibiting sprout development.The most common application is to thermally volatilize the compound and distribute within the bulk pile during the first few months in storage. Sprout control lasts for many months depending upon the rate applied and conditions.
