Software enables two-way, PC-based shop floor communication

Users of Realtrac's real-time ERP shop management software now can use networked PCs on the manufacturing floor to log on and off jobs; to use real-time dispatch lists and routers; to view part pictures, setups, sketches, and drawings; and to insert new shop floor information into job records.At the beginning of a shift, a machinist can view on a monitor a real-time list of all jobs queued at and soon to arrive at his or her workstation, with the priority for each job displayed in terms of how far it is behind or ahead of schedule. The machinist selects the job that should be worked on next and accesses a real4ime job router showing the number of parts completed for the current and prior operations.
