The limiting plasticity of 05KM8AN10 steel depends very little on the content of the basic components, Within the grade specifications. The limiting plasticity of the steel increases markedly with increase in deformation rate. Consequently, the technological plasticity is higher in rolling than in forging. The limiting plasticity is significantly higher for predeformed steel than for cast metal. The limiting plasticity and deformability of 05Khl8AN10 steel from melts obtained in a DSP-50 arc furnace with treatment in a UVRV reduction unit, including reduction by silicocalcium and modification by boron, with an optimal casting temperature, are significantly higher than for metal obtained in a DSP-50 furnace without the additional measures.
