摘要

Applying alloyed boride coatings increases the cavitational resistance of carbon steels by a factor of 1.6-2.2; the resistance is greatest for coatings alloyed with chromium and vanadium. Destruction of the coating occurs by uniform cleavage parallel to the wear surface, without the formation of wear cavities. The cavitational strength of the boride coatings is determined by their microhardness, microbrittleness, and microporosity, and also by the residual stress and its distribution.
