Low output levels in the United States are being compounded by their customers' endeavourto meetyear-end stock targets. The leading domestic producers have announced reductions in discounts, i.e. basis price increases, effective January 2012. However, with demand so weak, it is difficult to impose these advances and buyers report recent deals at largely unchanged basis figures.
