MEPS -World Average Hot Rolled Coil and plate, grade 304, transaction prices decreased by over $US60 per tonne in December. Reductions were noted in all regions researched this month, but are forecast to rise early in 2012 due to the higher costs of stainless steel making raw materials.Buying activity is expected to improve in the first half of next year as distributors and end-users are likely to restock in this period. This and ongoing output cuts by many stainless steel producers should lead to higher prices over the next six months.
