RECORD GLOBAL STAINLESS STEEL OUTPUT FORECAST FOR 2013 - MEPS

Global crude stainless steel production is forecast to achieve an all-time high figure of 36.4 million tonnes in the calendar year, 2013. This would be 2.9 percent above the previous record mark, set last year. However, this prediction has been downgraded by 0.3 million tonnes since our last forecast, published in April. Demand has been disappointing and current estimates suggest that the second quarter's production, in several regions, will turn out to be lower than we anticipated, three months ago.
