North American Stainless, which is part of Spain's Acerinox, recently produced coil from its new hot annealing and pickling line. It has an annual capacity of just over 1 million tonnes. As a result of this and other expansions, annual rolling capacity will increase to 830,000 tonnes. Taiwan's Tang Eng Iron Works cut output at its stainless plant to below 10,000 tonnes in November - about 60 percent down from normal.
