Transaction values for austenitic steels have risen substantially in the United States, in June, because of the large increase in alloy extras. The surcharges for grade 304 will reduce a little in July. This will make imports from Asia less attractive. With coil values rising, some mills are switching their production focus from quarto plate to cold rolled coil, where practical. Some European sellers continue to make very aggressive price offers. The market is expected to remain quite stable until after the summer vacation period.
